It has sliding door bins and folding shelves that can move to make way for taller objects stored underneath, a storage area at kid-height called the Snack Zone, and a custom-temperature drawer that can be set anywhere from freezing to 45☏ for chilling wine. The GRMC2273CF also provides some excellent customization features to make sure that space conforms to your specific needs. While the GRMC2273CF does feature a counter-depth design (which is less deep than full-size builds, resulting in fewer cubic feet of storage), it manages to use the space it does have incredibly well, with more fridge storage space than even some full-size models. If you've been looking at counter-depth French-door models but haven't been thrilled with their low overall storage, the Frigidaire Gallery GRMC2273CF may be the pick for you. We also have some complaints about freezer space, compared to the average French door fridge. We’d like to see some spill-capture on the shelves, and the drawers aren’t as sturdy as they could be considering the care put into the rest of the design. The design is incredible, as well: It’s carefully built to use a minimum of space, from hidden hinges and feet to a door that’s designed to sit flush with your cabinetry. There are also wi-fi smart fridge features, including push notifications if your door is open. The ice dispenser can churn out about 12 pounds of ice every day, and the water dispenser can remember the size of your most-used vessels and fill them up, hands-free. The ice and water dispensers are top-tier. There are plenty of advanced features here, as well. Its freezer offers even steadier temperature control, never moving by more than a fraction of a degree from its position just below 0☏. The Bosch BG36CD50SNS delivers rock-solid temperature control, holding steady at 38☏ and varying by less than 1☏ in either direction. The GRQC2255BF offers an unbelievable value for its purchase price, both in terms of its raw performance and its overall usability. It has a through-the-door ice and water dispenser, a custom-temp compartment located next to its freezer, humidity-controlled crispers, and some highly-customizable storage throughout. When it comes to extra features, the GRQC2255BF has just about everything you'd expect from a high-end fridge. The Frigidaire Gallery Quattro GRQC2255BF doesn't stop with near-perfect temperatures. This is, by far, the best temperature performance we've ever recorded. Thanks to its TwinTech cooling system, the GRQC2255BF is able to adapt quickly to any changes to prevent your food's internal temperature from changing even a single degree Fahrenheit. Typically there's a bit of wiggle to any fridge's temperatures due to defrost cycles or opening the door to grab something. One of the most impressive abilities of this fridge is to keep temperatures within a fraction of a degree of their target, both over time and throughout each of its compartments. The Frigidaire Gallery Quattro GRQC2255BF 4-door French-door is the best refrigerator we've tested to date, by a healthy margin, and it's our best counter-depth fridge by an even wider one. Hot dogs encased in bagel dough appeared, along with other gimmicks. ![]() By the ’80s, according to Phil McCann, Nathan’s senior marketing director, there were no family members left at the company and it became a corporation with franchises. “My sister was a big fan and her style of babysitting me when I was little was to sit me on a bench and go binge-riding on the Cyclone for hours,” says Sanger, who eventually started going on it himself, too. But it is the Cyclone, the venerable wooden roller coaster built in 1927 and now part of Luna Park, that has always been the great draw. And though the original park shut down in 1944, there’s a newer version now that shares its name and boasts the Thunderbolt, a ride that drops its passengers from 115 feet at 56 miles per hour. “It had bumper cars and sliding wooden horses on a polished, heavily shellacked wooden track,” recalls Sanger, and a clown’s face painted over the entrance that “scared me to death and also looked very much like the original Batman Joker.” Luna Park, founded in 1903, was best known for A Trip to the Moon, an electrically powered mechanical ride, inspired by Jules Verne’s 1865 novel “From the Earth to the Moon,” that resembled a spacecraft. There was Steeplechase Park, built in 1897, which remained open until 1964. Still, the fabulous amusement parks survived, including the three greats. To entertain the rich, three racetracks were opened beginning in 1879 they eventually attracted gamblers and gangsters - “Sodom-by-the-Sea,” The New York Times called Coney Island in 1893 - and by 1910, they were all shut down. Visitors arrived by railroad, ferry and trolley, by private carriage and yacht. Hotels and bathing pavilions went up along much of the south Brooklyn seacoast, including Brighton Beach to the east of Coney Island and Manhattan Beach beyond. “I remember as a skinny kid seeing more fat, naked old men than I could ever have imagined in one place.”Īlthough Manhattanites vacationed in the area as early as the 1840s and ’50s, it wasn’t until after the Civil War that it really took off. “And, of course, Nathan’s also had great crinkle-cut French fries and fried clams to die for,” says Sanger, who liked to follow his meal with a stroll to the boardwalk, past the Silver’s Baths, where men would soak in saltwater pools or sweat in saunas. Sitting in the sun, I look up at the stand’s signage, which is not shy about announcing its other gustatory pleasures: lobster rolls, cheeseburgers and fried frog’s legs (which became popular in the 1940s, Miller tells me, when G.I.s returned from World War II with fond memories of French cuisine). By 2001, there were outposts in every state and in multiple countries around the world. The transmission of writing from southern Europe to northern Europe likely took place via Germanic warbands, the dominant northern European military institution of the period, who would have encountered Italic writing firsthand during campaigns amongst their southerly neighbors. The earliest known carving of the entire futhark, in order, is that on the Kylver stone from Gotland, Sweden, which dates to roughly 400 CE. The earliest unambiguous runic inscriptions are found on the Vimose comb from Vimose, Denmark and the Øvre Stabu spearhead from southern Norway, both of which date to approximately 160 CE. ![]() The inscription is highly ambiguous, however, and scholars are divided over whether its letters are runic or Roman. ![]() The earliest possibly runic inscription is found on the Meldorf brooch, which was manufactured in the north of modern-day Germany around 50 CE. Earlier Germanic sacred symbols, such as those preserved in northern European petroglyphs, were also likely influential in the development of the script. The runes are presumed to have been derived from one of the many Old Italic alphabets in use among the Mediterranean peoples of the first century CE, who lived to the south of the Germanic tribes. While runologists argue over many of the details of the historical origins of runic writing, there is widespread agreement on a general outline. Much of our current knowledge of the meanings the ancient Germanic peoples attributed to the runes comes from the three “Rune Poems,” documents from Iceland, Norway, and England that provide a short stanza about each rune in their respective futharks (the Younger Futhark is treated in the Icelandic and Norwegian Rune Poems, while the Anglo-Saxon Futhorc is discussed in the Old English Rune Poem). This explains their sharp, angular form, which was well-suited to the medium. Runes were traditionally carved onto stone, wood, bone, metal, or some similarly hard surface rather than drawn with ink and pen on parchment. On some inscriptions, the twenty-four runes of the Elder Futhark were divided into three ættir (Old Norse, “families”) of eight runes each, but the significance of this division is unfortunately unknown. 750 CE) and eventually replaced that older alphabet in Scandinavia and the 33-character Anglo-Saxon Futhorc, which gradually altered and added to the Elder Futhark in England. There are three principal futharks: the 24-character Elder Futhark, the first fully-formed runic alphabet, whose development had begun by the first century CE and had been completed before the year 400 the 16-character Younger Futhark, which began to diverge from the Elder Futhark around the beginning of the Viking Age (c. The runic alphabets are called “futharks” after the first six runes (Fehu, Uruz, Thurisaz, Ansuz, Raidho, Kaunan), in much the same way that the word “alphabet” comes from the names of the first two Hebrew letters (Aleph, Beth). The T-rune was often carved as a standalone ideograph, apart from the writing of any particular word, as part of spells cast to ensure victory in battle. Tiwaz was perceived to dwell within the daytime sky, and, accordingly, the visual form of the T-rune is an arrow pointed upward (which surely also hints at the god’s martial role). For example, the T-rune, called *Tiwaz in the Proto-Germanic language, is named after the god Tiwaz (known as Tyr in the Viking Age). Indeed, in every Germanic language, the word “rune” (from Proto-Germanic *runo) means both “letter” and “secret” or “mystery,” and its original meaning, which likely predated the adoption of the runic alphabet, may have been simply “(hushed) message.”Įach rune had a name that hinted at the philosophical and magical significance of its visual form and the sound for which it stands, which was almost always the first sound of the rune’s name. Each rune was an ideographic or pictographic symbol of some cosmological principle or power, and to write a rune was to invoke and direct the force for which it stood. ![]() The runes functioned as letters, but they were much more than just letters in the sense in which we today understand the term. The first systems of writing developed and used by the Germanic peoples were runic alphabets. Skin tag Removals commonly occur on the neck, under the breast, in the underarm, on the eyelids, and in the folds of the groin. Large tags can have blood vessels and may bleed when they are cut, but a doctor will minimize bleeding and apply an anesthetic to ensure you feel no discomfort. Larger skin tags will require physical removal with scissors or a scalpel due to their larger stem connecting to the skin. They are usually removed simply and painlessly by freezing or burning the growth. Small skin tags have a minor effect on your appearance and can be less irritating. Dermatologists may also recommend burning the skin tag with an electrical current to remove the skin tag. The tank sits on load cells sensors and I'd like to be able to store these weights and record times and dates of the fill/empty process.
